Fall musical 2024
KBP's 2024 Fall Musical is Honk JR. and will be directed by Allison Sumrall.
Musical is open to students currently in 1st grade through 12th grade (must be 18 and under).
Words by George Stiles and Book and Lyrics by Antony Drewe
Based on Hans Christian Andersen's The Ugly Duckling, Honk! JR. tells the story of an odd looking baby duck, Ugly, and his quest to find his mother. This delightful adaptation of the beloved fable and the award-winning musical (Honk!) is a heartwarming celebration of what makes us special. With a score by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe (Mary Poppins), Honk! JR. is a heartwarming celebration of being different that is sure to delight audiences of all ages with its sparkling wit, unique charm and memorable score. Witty and hilarious, but also deeply moving, Honk! JR. will treat you to equal amounts of laughter and tears.
Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother's protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat. Along the way, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out being different is not a bad thing to be.

JUNE INDIVIDUAL ONE-WEEK THEATRE CAMPS
Description:
These camps are a great option for all campers currently in 1st grade through 12th grade (must be 18 and under). Whether you are new to theatre or experienced, these one-week camps provide you with the opportunity to try out KBP and sharpen your skills. Campers can choose to attend any or all of the individual weeks. Each one-week camp will have a different focus.
- Campers may audition for roles on the first day of camp.
- Camps will end with a showcase on Friday evening featuring the campers performing for their family and friends.
Dates, Times and Locations:
- Week 1 – Theatre in 10 Minutes or Less - In this fully hands-on theatre camp, actors will work on taking a series of short shows from page to stage. They will build their own props as well as design and paint the set backdrops. All their newly learned skills and designs will be showcased the last day of camp with a performance for family and friends.
- Week 2 – Musical Theatre/Dance Cabaret - Get ready to learn songs and dances from musicals new and old, like The Little Mermaid, Chicago, Newsies, South Pacific, and more! We’ll learn full performances of songs as well as dance numbers to culminate into a cabaret performance on the last evening of camp. Participants should bring jazz shoes to camp, and they should also wear comfortable clothes that allow movement.
- Week 3 – Musical Theatre Dance Camp with Divine Dance Arts - Ready to learn all the best moves from your favorite Broadway Shows? Join us for a week-long dance camp where dancers will get a taste of a variety of dance styles used in musical theatre including jazz, ballet, and tap. You will not only have fun, but you'll be expanding your knowledge in the process. All skill levels are welcome! We will show off what we've learned to family and friends at our Time to Shine showcase at the end of camp. Participants should bring jazz and tap shoes to camp, and they should also wear comfortable clothes that allow movement.
